Class One Railroads.
"Class One" is a traditional term for the major railroads, the precise definition of which has changed over time. I am using it very generally to encompass the big or mainline roads in both the U.S. and Canada, including the "fallen flags" that no longer exist. My treatment of mergers is somewhat arbitrary, depending on the number of images I want to post. For example all the BNSF predecessor roads are lumped under BNSF, whereas I have kept SP seperate from UP (although WP is included in UP). Even more strangely I have kept the NWP seperate from SP and put it in the shortline section together with successor roads like Eureka Southern and California Northern. But hopefully this logic makes some sense and you can find whatever pix you are intereted in.
