Comments are very much appreciated. Corrections of errors in my text are especially appreciated since much of what I have written is from memory, a notoriously unreliable source! Also very much appreciated are suggestions as to how to make all this more interesting or user friendly, it has gotten so big even I have trouble finding and coordinating images and information. To help folks maintain their privacy and minimize spam, the comment software does not ask for your email. So I apologize for not being able to respond to all the comments. If you have a question and would like me to respond, please leave your email as part of the text (I would recommend substituting "at" for the "@" character in your email, to make it a bit more difficult for email harvesters to capture your email). For those who leave compliments....thanks very much, that is what makes all this worthwhile.

John, I have always admired your photography, and just love no. 33 on your favorites, the one at Nevada Northern with steam rising up alongside the coaling tower. We are probably about the same age, but I did not become a "born again" railfan until 1991 and will never catch up with your wonderful photos. Your life was definitely not wasted chasing trains.

Hello Mr. West... My email is pconnersatrocketmail.com

I'm a historian who was asked to be part of a team that is creating interpretive signs for a piece of the West Side trail, from Friedenburg Pass to the N Fork of the Tuolumne, just outside of the town of Tuolumne.
I love your images! One of my colleagues, Lori Klingberg via Ed Sieckert, told me about your website, and I was so focussed on acquiring images for the prlject from local museums, that I neglected looking at your site, until now.
We're near the end of our project, and I've had trouble finding good quality images that represent the 1960s. It would be fairly small on the kiosk panel since it will be part of a timeline.
Would you entertain use of an image (such as Shorty's 1961 trip with No. 14 or the No 9 in 1960) for this purpose?
If so, is it possible to get a high resolution scan, such as 300 dpi?
My phone is 209.533.1917.
It's May 2 at about 12:30; I'll be back at this number by 5 and also plan to be here tomorrow.
Your website is great and the images are a treasure. Thank you for chasing trains.
Kindly,
-Pam

Thanks

Loved the photos, especially those of the SP narrow gauge and the Oahu Railroad.
